Community Mobilization

Community mobilization is the act of encouraging and engaging the community to participate in the democratic process of voting. Community mobilization must involve the whole community, not just the specific individuals or segments. At Let's Vote DeKalb a community is considered “mobilized” when all members feel as though they are a part of the democracy in which they live.

Every person should feel represented by government and rest assured their voice matters. When people mobilize and ensure their concerns are heard, it is a demonstration of democracy at its best. As American citizens and immigrants, we must work together to make positive changes in the policies, and the attitudes that shape our DeKalb through our ability to vote. Thus, community mobilization is important because the community itself is ultimately responsible for and affected by situations of safety or insecurity.
