Celebrating 200 Years in 2022
The DeKalb County District 7 Glass Orb Quest is a celebration to commemorate the 200th Anniversary of DeKalb County, GA. Participants will have the ability to find hand-blown glass treasures created by Decatur Glass Glassblowing under the watchful eye of Commissioner Lorraine Cochran-Johnson. Each limited edition glass orb carries a special 200th Anniversary engraving and is marked with a unique number for tracking - making your orb a limited edition and collectable piece or art.
The quest will take place along the paved Arabia Mountain PATH between Vaughters Farm Mile 2.0 and Murphy Candler School Mile 5.8. Attendees are encouraged to park in the Davidson-Arabia Mountain Nature Preserve parking area and proceed to the Nature Center for the official Glass Orb Quest kick-off.
DeKalb residents will be limited to one glass orb as a keepsake on a first come, first served basis.
Glass orb finders are encouraged to send an image of themselves holding their treasure, along with their limited edition number for inclusion o our website to creating a lasting memory of this once in a lifetime Bicentennial celebration.
The Glass Orb Quest will take place Saturday, Oct. 22, 2022, from
10 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Davidson-Arabia Mountain Nature Preserve (3787 Klondike Road, Stonecrest, GA 30038).

The creation of your hand-blown glass orbs has been an amazing process - from ideation to implementation. Many thanks to Nate and the entire team at Decatur Glassblowing for understanding Commissioner Cochran-Johnson's vision and walking her through the process as they created these local produced treasures for our DeKalb residents.
